Four left lanes of westbound I-285 at Powers Ferry Road/Northside Drive (Exit 22) are scheduled to remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, for bridge maintenance, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The closure began at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Crews are working on the Powers Ferry bridge over the Chattahoochee River. The schedule depends on weather and conditions at the site.
The work is part of a $1.6 million project to repair or replace concrete overlays, edge beams, substructures and bridge joints on two Cobb County bridges. GDOT expects the project to be completed in late fall 2027.
GDOT advises drivers to expect delays, watch for message boards and detour signs, and slow down through the work zone.
