Mableton to mail first public safety tax bills around Oct. 1
The Public Safety Special Service District bills will be mailed to Mableton property owners on or about Oct. 1. Payment is due Dec. 1, 2026, according to the city.
The city has already sent notices to property owners within Mableton’s limits. Those notices are not bills, and owners should wait for the official bill before paying.
The district’s 2026 tax rate is 4.5 mills, or $4.50 for every $1,000 of taxable assessed value. For example, a property with a taxable assessed value of $100,000 would have a $450 district tax before any applicable exemptions. The tax is separate from Cobb County and school taxes.
The City Council approved the rate in July to fund public safety services. The city says the money can be used for costs including contracted law enforcement, public safety planning and related services, but not general city operations.
Property owners who pay taxes through a mortgage escrow account should check with their mortgage servicer to confirm whether it received the new bill. The city says the charge may not yet appear in some escrow systems. For questions, contact Mableton’s Revenue Division at 404-490-1323 or consult the city’s Public Safety SSD information page.
