Early voting has now ended in the special runoff election to replace former 14th district GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The vote across 10 north and northwestern Georgia counties -including a number of Cobb precincts- is pitting Republican and Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney. Clayton Fuller against retired brigadier general and cattle farmer Shawn Harris, a Democrat
Harris actually racked up the most votes in the original March 10 election with Fuller placing second out of 17 hopefuls, but no candidate scored more than 50 percent of the total, forcing the runoff April 7.
Precincts in Western and Northwestern Cobb County lying within the 14th district saw voters cast 8,949 ballots during the several days of advance voting. Of that total, 8,692 were in person and 257 were mail-in.
All figures were through Wednesday. Results from Thursday’s final day of advance voting were not available Thursday night.
The highest daily early voting total at any of the Cobb locations was at the Boots Ward Recreation Center on Tuesday, with 928 tallies recorded.
The winner next Tuesday will serve out the remainder of Greene’s term, set to end in January of 2027. The incumbent announced her departure in November, more than a year before the end of her current term. Her decision came after a very public falling-out with President Donald Trump.
