Georgia Primary Early Voting Opens With Record Turnout

The first day of early voting for the May 19 primary saw substantial turnout across the state on Monday.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says 35,352 Georgians cast ballots in-person, a 29 percent increase from 2022’s primary and a record turnout.

The state’s top election official also says 1,732 absentee ballots were accepted. In Cobb County, Elections and Voter registration officials say 2,504 in-person votes were cast on Monday.

Cobb officials also say 1,927 mail ballots were a ndled, as were 42 provisional ballots.

Cobb voters will have until May 15 to weigh in early on races from 14th district Congress (Marjorie Taylor Greene’s former seat) to three other U.S. House seats that voters will cast ballots on in parts of Cobb.

 Cobb Countians  will also weigh in on a number of other statewide and federal races, ranging from U.S. Senator, Governor and Lt. Governor on down to two seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission. A plethora of state house and senate races will appear on the ballot as well, as will local and statewide judicial candidates.
