The STEAM Generation®, a Mableton-based nonprofit focused on science, technology, engineering, art integration and math education, has been awarded a 2026 State of Hope Grant to expand its early childhood readiness efforts, the organization announced Friday.

The grant, awarded by the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family & Children Services, places the organization among 57 recipients selected from 277 applications statewide. The initiative supports programs aimed at strengthening families and improving outcomes for children across Georgia.

The STEAM Generation will use the $10,000 award to support its Path to Kindergarten (PtoK) program, which focuses on preparing young children in underserved communities for school while engaging families in the learning process.

“This award is a powerful affirmation of the work we are doing to prepare children and families for long-term success,” said Maureen Myrie, President/CEO of The STEAM Generation. “Through Path to Kindergarten, we are not only building academic readiness, but also nurturing confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.”

The State of Hope initiative connects community-based organizations working to create safer, more supportive environments for children. As a recipient, The STEAM Generation joins a broader network collaborating to deliver resources and strengthen family stability statewide.

The Path to Kindergarten program combines hands-on STEAM learning with family engagement strategies, equipping both children and parents with tools needed for a successful transition into formal education. The program also aligns with the organization’s broader mission to reduce educational disparities and expand access to high-quality STEAM opportunities.

“This investment allows us to deepen our impact and reach more families at a critical stage in a child’s development,” Myrie added. “We are proud to be part of a statewide movement dedicated to building stronger futures for children.”

Founded in 2013, The STEAM Generation provides educational programming and community partnerships designed to equip students and families with skills and confidence for academic success.
