Marietta-based Wellstar Health System says it’s finished its acquisition of Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Northeast Georgia, with the addition bringing the system to12 hospitals.
The 25-bed acute care hospital with a level IV trauma center will now be designated Wellstar Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Wellstar President and CEO Ketul J. Patel said in the company’s press release, “Completing this acquisition marks an important milestone in our shared commitment to build on the hospital’s strong foundation and create new possibilities for patients, clinicians and communities in the region.”
Officials say integration with Wellstar will improve the new acquisition by adding additional clinical expertise and advanced clinical programs, among other benefits.
The hospital system says it’ll take a “thoughtful” approach to integrating Mountain Lakes with the larger organization.
The 67,000 square foot northeast Georgia facility is located in Clayton and was established in 2017.
