Hula and Marbles Round Summer Into Fall at South Cobb Regional Library

A child spinning a hula hoop

By Kelly Johnson

South Cobb Regional Library circumnavigates into the fall season with a couple of programs that connote balance and fun.

If Earth represents life and the sun reflects one’s light, then the library’s Hula Hoop Workout makes for a fitting analogy of balancing self and life. The workout, occurring Mondays at 5:00 PM, beginning September 14th, is set for outdoors—weather permitting—and will afford warm up and practice time for those who haven’t hula hooped since their playground years. Weighted hoops are provided by the library, so all one needs is themself and a music request. (Clean music, of course.)

The following week, South Cobb Regional Library’s Marble Run Madness preludes the autumn equinox on Monday, September 21st at 4:00 PM. This small-scale fun is a STEAM program for children five to twelve years of age. Children will work in teams to engineer the longest track possible for their marble to run on. Recycled materials for the track and marbles will be provided by the library. With heading the official start of the fall season, Marble Run Madness marks a ramp up to a season of festivities, to the likes of the North Georgia State Fair, starting September 24th, and of course, October 31st’s Halloween.

However, not to get too far ahead of September at South Cobb Regional Library, here are a few other events scheduled for the month:

  • Book Bunch, Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:00 PM
  • The Last Word Book Discussion, Thursday, September 10th at 4:30 PM

(So Far Gone by Jess Walter)

  • Community Feeding & Clothing, Friday, September 18th at 11:00 AM
  • Celebrate the German Language and Culture!, Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 AM

Please be advised that the library shall close on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.

Contact South Cobb Regional Library for event inquiries or review its September schedule.
