The Georgia Department of Transportation has canceled the Oct. 9-12 closure of all lanes on I-285 between South Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive because of a forecast of heavy rain.
GDOT also said no single- or double-lane closures related to the I-285 Westside Rebuild project will be installed in the project area this weekend.
The next full closure of northbound and southbound lanes between South Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, weather permitting.
The project involves concrete slab reconstruction and rehabilitation from Collier Drive in Fulton County to Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County. Work also includes improvements to roadway shoulders, the concrete median, signs, guardrails and traffic management systems.
Completion is scheduled for 2029.
