Does your Cobb County nonprofit need funds? Nonprofits without current funding have an opportunity this November.

The staff of the Cobb County Community Development Block Grant Program will host informational workshops for nonprofits.

The workshops are open to nonprofit organizations, participating cities in Cobb, county departments and other public agencies. The informational sessions will explain grant funding through federal and state programs.

  • 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1
    Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta
  • 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8
    Ron Anderson Recreation Center, 3820 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs
  • 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12
    South Cobb Recreation Center, 875 Riverside Parkway, Austell
  • 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15
    Vinings Public Library, 4290 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta

The event will teach you grant program basics, financial management, grant application cycles.  The workshops will also cover eligible and ineligible activities, reporting and other helpful tips.

You’ll learn about the Community Development Block Grants, HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grant, Community Services Block Grant, Justice Assistance Grant, and the Emergency Food & Shelter Program.

What is the Community Development Block Grant program?

According to the Cobb County Community Development Block Grant website, “Since 1982, Cobb County has qualified to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development [HUD]. The primary objective of the CDBG Program is to help develop viable urban communities, principally for low and moderate income persons, by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities.”

Grants include the Community Development Block Grants, HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grant, Community Services Block Grant, Justice Assistance Grant, the Emergency Food & Shelter Program, and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
