According to AAA’s weekly report, Georgia gas prices remained unchanged for the second consecutive week, averaging $2.90 per gallon for regular unleaded.
“Georgia gas prices saw minimal or no change at the pumps across the state,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Crude oil prices fell by more than 1% last Friday. With the Thanksgiving travel now in our rearview mirror, it appears that gas prices are steadfastly continuing their gradual descent.”

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline decreased by 4 cents to $3.01 (subject to change overnight).
It has been less than a dime away from $3 for over a month as the waffling decline has been agonizingly slow.
The last time the national average was below $3 was May 11, 2021.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand rose slightly from 8.50 million barrels a day last week to 8.73.
Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks rose slightly from 212.2 million barrels to 214.6, while gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.5 million barrels per day.
What causes fluctuations in gasoline prices?
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the price of crude oil is the main factor affecting the price of gasoline.
“Strong and increasing demand for gasoline and other petroleum products in the United States and the rest of the world can place intense pressure on available supplies,” the EIA website states.
According to the EIA, other factors that can affect prices include” disruptions in crude oil supplies, refinery operations, or gasoline pipeline deliveries.”
There are also seasonal changes in demand that cause price fluctuations throughout the year.
