Fire in Powder Springs results in two deaths

According to a report from Chief Investigator Brian S. Beaty of the Cobb County Fire Department, a fire on Missy Way in Powder Springs resulted in the death of Teresa Elrod, 39, and a male juvenile.

On December 27 at about 33 minutes after midnight, Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a reported residential fire.  The house was engulfed in flames, and a 40 year old male had escaped from the fire. The female, Teresa Elrod, and the male juvenile were taken from the house by ladder, and transported to WellStar Cobb Hospital, but later died of their injuries. The 40 year old male was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, and was treated for minor injuries and released.

According to the news release, “This investigation is ongoing pending the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s definitive findings relative to the cause of death for both victims. Anyone with information relative to this incident is asked to call (770) 499-3869.”
