The City of Marietta announced on its website that the annual Glover Park Concert Series has been cancelled this year due to the spread of COVID-19.

Here is the complete news release from the City of Marietta announcing the cancellation:

MARIETTA – It is with much sadness and disappointment, the Downtown Marietta Development Authority and the City of Marietta announce that, in accordance with Governor Kemp’s Public Health State of Emergency and restrictions and guidelines in place as a result of COVID-19, we have canceled the 2020 Glover Park Concert Series, but we will be back again next year “dancin’ in the streets”.

We made every effort including postponing some of the concerts to later in the year but the health and safety of our community and staff is our number one priority. The series began over 34 years ago and has provided economic stability and brought notoriety to the Marietta Square. It is our hope that patrons will continue to support the local businesses in the area and join us next year. Work has already begun for the 2021 series.

Special thanks to Ted Azriel, the artist whose artwork is featured on the poster and to our wonderful sponsors. It is through their donations, we can continue to provide these outstanding concerts free to the public. The sponsors include: Marietta Power and Water, SA White Oil Company, Vinings Bank, Manning Properties, Winnwood Retirement Community, Marietta Business Association, Zaxby’s, Cauthorn, Nohr & Owen, Marietta Daily Journal, Marietta Visitors Bureau, Coldwell Banker-Marietta/West Cobb, Alston & Bird, Elanders Americas and Pit Stop.

The series is produced by the Downtown Marietta Development Authority and in partnership with the City of Marietta.

The theme of the series this year was to be “Dancing in the Streets,” and would have included a beach and oldies band, a pop and rock band, a Motown and Rhythm and Blues ensemble, a 70’s group, a variety party band and a Beatles tribute band.
