Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department provided an update to the incident in which a Marietta woman drove her car into Rottenwood Creek at Franklin Gateway.
“We were notified by the hospital that Allison Harris succumbed to her injuries and passed away overnight. The investigation into this crash remains open and active,” Officer McPhilamy wrote.

According to a public information release from Officer Chuck McPhilamy, the Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in life-threatening injuries to the driver.
The incident happened across from 1035 Franklin Gateway on Sunday October 23 at about 10 p.m.
Investigators reported that a 25-year-old Marietta woman driving a a 2017 Hyundai Elantra drove off the roadway, over a pedestrian bridge, and her vehicle landed upside down in Rottenwood Creek.
She was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
This crash is currently under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Officer K. Bedford at 770-794-5364.
