Lane closures on I-75 in Marietta overnight Friday and daytime on Saturday and Sunday

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that contractors for the department will install lane closures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on I-75 this weekend in Marietta.

These closures are related to an ongoing bridge preservation project on I-75 at three locations in Cobb County and one location in Fulton County.

The press release for the work describes the scope and schedule as follows:

“Weather and on-site conditions permitting, these are the scheduled closures:

“Overnight Friday, November 11 from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday morning

  • Three right lanes will be closed on I-75 northbound from South Marietta Parkway to North Marietta Parkway

“Saturday, November 12 from 8:01 a.m. until 10 p.m.

  • Three right lanes will be closed on I-75 southbound between Allgood Road and Roswell Road

“Sunday, November 13 from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

  • Three left lanes will be closed on I-75 northbound from South Marietta Parkway to North Marietta Parkway

“This project will replace or repair the bridges’ concrete overlay, substructures and superstructures, and bridge joints. This $10.7 million project is scheduled for completion in fall 2023.”

The GDOT recommends the following safety precautions for drivers approaching the work zone:

As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
