Indivisible Cobb, a local progressive group, announced in a news release that it and a number of other progressive organizations are gathering on the first day of Georgia’s legislative session in what it describes as “engaging with lawmakers, advocating for crucial issues, and demonstrating our intention to hold our representatives accountable for their votes, especially in this crucial election year.”
“Showing up matters. This is a representative government, and our elected officials can only represent our best interests if we are informed, engaged, and present. Attending events like this helps us educate ourselves about the legislation that will shape our lives—and reminds lawmakers that their constituents are paying attention,” said Stacey Parlotto, a leader of the Indivisible Cobb group.
“When we take the time to learn, to ask questions, and to stand together at the Capitol, we strengthen our democracy. Our presence sends a clear message: Georgians expect transparency, accountability, and leadership that puts people first,” said Parlotto.
The groups plan to gather on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 8 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, across from the Capitol, and to meeting with legislators until 1 p.m.
