The Riverview Landing Smyrna development is moving along, with construction crews framing the multi-family apartments and continuing to build retainer walls on the west side of the road.  There is also a new stretch of what seems to be a mixed-use path along the east side of the road, half paved in concrete, and half paved in asphalt.

The phase currently under construction is a set of apartments by the Prestwick Companies.

According to a press release sent several months ago by Prestwick, The Eddy at Riverview Landing will open in the spring of 2019.  There will be 310 Class A apartments, a coffee shop, a community theater, a kayak launch, walking and biking trails, and a public park that will become a Smyrna city park upon completion.

The developers of Riverview Landing Smyrna

Prestwick is building the multi-family component of Riverview Landing.  Avalon Real Estate Partners will build 298 for-sale homes later in the project. Matrix Residential is the property management firm. The master developer for the entire project is The Ardent Companies.

The development was originally a project of Jamestown Properties, which developed Ponce City Market.  Jamestown sold the property to The Ardent Companies, which presented a scaled-down version of the original plan to the Smyrna City Council, which the council approved in March of last year.

The Chattahoochee River Trail

The Chattahoochee River Trail will eventually run alongside Riverview Landing, beginning on the north at the I-285 bridge, heading southward past an upcoming county park on the Chattahoochee River, and connecting with another mixed-use trail at Mableton Parkway. The trail will also have a bridge across the river to connect with the Proctor Creek Greenway. It’s one of the priority projects in the Cobb County Greenways & Trails Master Plan.

With the proposed extension of the Silver Comet Trail, Riverview Landing is likely to have an abundance of trails and parks both adjacent to the property and nearby.

  1. What is that tall concrete tower pictured behind the apartments being built?
