Fact-checking and corrections policy

The Cobb County Courier is a small organization with limited resources, so we cannot hire full-time fact-checkers.

At the Cobb County Courier, we take accuracy seriously. To the best of our ability, we incorporate fact-checking into the editing process. If we make a mistake (which is inevitable from time to time given the volume of articles we publish), we correct it promptly and transparently when we discover it or it’s pointed out to us.

How to request a correction:

  • Email [larry.johnson@cobbcountycourier.com] with the subject line “Correction Request.”
  • Please include a link to the article, a description of the issue, and any supporting material.

Our correction process:

  • We investigate the claim internally.
  • If an error is confirmed, we update the story with a clear note:
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated [X]. It has been updated to reflect [Y].
  • If the story was materially wrong, we may also publish a standalone correction or clarification.

Corrections archive:

  • We maintain a searchable archive of corrections for transparency.
