Cobb County Commission Chairman Mike Boyce released a video presentation this afternoon on state-mandated ads announcing the tax increase he is proposing. The written introduction to the video presentation states, “Cobb County Commission Chairman Mike Boyce explains why the required published advertisement about the upcoming budget makes the increase looks larger than he is actually proposing.”

Boyce said in the 10-minute video that because of the way the state requires the increase to be calculated (factoring in the rollback) the state’s number will look higher than the actual increase in taxes. The state’s calculation will put the percentage of the tax hike for a 1.7 mill increase at 34.12 percent.  Boyce argues that the actual increase would be 25.1 percent.
