The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the area around Sope Creek near Marietta in Cobb County on Friday, September 27.
The alert describes the flooding as minor.
At 3:45 a.m., the flood stage was 11.5 feet. 12 feet is the stage at which the creek is officially considered flooded. The water is expected to rise to 12.8 feet during the morning and then recede.
The alert describes the affected areas as follows:
Minor flooding of residential yards occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on Lower Roswell Road. This includes homes on the lower portions of Cherokee Place…Pheasant Drive and Pheasant Circle. Portions of the Indian Hills Golf Course near the creek will be flooded with 1 to 2 feet of water.
