Two Mableton volunteer events: vision screening and Cooper Lake Road cleanup

Avid community volunteer Barry Krebs submitted two reports with photos about volunteer events in Mableton: vision screening for students at Betty Gray Middle School, and a litter cleanup by Boy Scout Troop #22 on Cooper Lake Road.

Vision Screening

Here is Barry’s report and photo gallery on the vision screening event:

The South Cobb Lions Club along with State Representative Terry Cummings administered vision screenings on about 200 students at the Betty Gray Middle School. The Cobb County HOPE Team and Betty Gray Middle School Staff had the students in a continual line running from the vision screenings to the hearing screenings. We estimate that about a third of the students will require follow-up. We appreciate the hard work that it took to have this event so well organized.

Litter Cleanup on Cooper Lake Road

Here is Barry’s report and photo gallery on the Cooper Lake Road cleanup:

The Boy Scout Troop # 22 with help from Mableton City Councilwoman Patty Auch, the Lake Hill Ladies and the South Cobb Lions Club removed about a dozen bags of litter, a car bumper and two tires from their adopted Cooper Lake Road on Sunday afternoon. The scouts had a great attitude as they worked in the fantastic weather. Afterwards, awards were given for the grossest item found, the largest item found and the weirdest item found.
