The Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) is introducing a new Chamber Concert Series, offering audiences an intimate musical experience at Marietta’s historic landmarks. Performed by small ensembles in candlelit settings, the series aims to bring listeners up close to the music, highlighting nuanced artistry and distinctive instrumental pairings.

The announcement on the City of Marietta website states that the concerts”will be performed by small ensembles in an evocative, candlelit atmosphere.”

“Chamber music thrives on proximity,” said Suzanne Tucker, Executive Director of the GSO. “These concerts put our community in beautifully restored spaces with extraordinary musicians, creating a listening experience that’s personal, immediate, and unforgettable.”

Presented by Barnes Law Group, each concert will feature former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, who will offer a brief reflection on the historical significance of the venue hosting that evening’s performance.

“Chamber music is especially well suited to these historic churches in the heart of Marietta,” said Bryan Black, GSO Chorus Director and organizer of the series. “Each venue connects us across generations, offering audiences the opportunity to experience chamber music as it was originally intended in intimate acoustic surroundings.”

The series opens November 14 with Dances from the New World, featuring Jeanne Carere, GSO Principal Flute, and classical guitarist John Huston. The program will explore lively dance-inspired compositions from across the Americas. Due to limited capacity, the concert will be performed twice to meet expected demand.

Next, on January 23, the series continues with Chamber Music at Old Zion — Celebrating Black Voices. Led by Robert Givens, GSO Assistant Concertmaster, and members of the GSO Core, the performance will honor the Black classical tradition through works by significant yet underrepresented Black composers.

The City of Marietta is the Presenting Sponsor of the GSO’s 75th Anniversary Season.

Tickets for each concert are $25. For details and reservations, visit GeorgiaSymphony.org.
