Would you like to put your endurance to the test, and at the same time support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Marietta Firefighter Support Fund?
The Marietta Fire Department will host their 2nd annual MFD 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. at 112 Haynes Street, Marietta, GA.
In addition to the fundraising aspect, the event will honor the 343 firefighters who died as a result of the 9/11/2001 terror attack.
According to the announcement on the City of Marietta website, “Participants will climb 110 stories in either turnout gear or civilian PT clothes at the 120 Cherokee St. parking deck. This event is open to all first responders and anyone who wishes to climb!”
Even if you are not a climber, you can still register to donate to these non-profit organizations.
According the the announcement, “All climbers will receive a lanyard with a picture of a fallen FDNY member from that day to carry with them as they climb, along with a personal silicone wristband and 9/11 remembrance decal. The MFD hopes to continue to honor and never forget these brave souls and their families.”
A number of restaurants on Marietta Square have offered their support for the event with discounted meals/tabs for those who show their ticket and registration after the event.
